HAKAN KALKAN
Hakan has over 30 years of experience as a market professional in global financial markets, spanning senior roles across banking, hedge funds, and international market-making institutions.
After earning a BSc in Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University and an MBA from Bilkent University, he began his career at Yapı Kredi Bank in Istanbul in 1992. Over 12 years in the Bank’s Treasury Department, he progressed from trader to senior leadership roles, ultimately serving as Head of Treasury for his final four years.
A pivotal chapter of his career was his transition to the global buy side. He joined Autonomy Capital Research in London, a leading global macro hedge fund, where he served as a Portfolio Manager for seven years. During this period, he managed a portion of the firm’s flagship fund, focusing on global macro and emerging market strategies. His tenure at Autonomy marked a shift from sell-side execution to institutional capital allocation, deepening his expertise in portfolio construction, risk management, and macro-driven investment strategies within a global investor framework.
In 2011, he returned to the sell side, joining Bank of America as a Managing Director. Over the next decade, he served as Co-Head of CEEMEA Local Markets Trading and Head of Turkey Trading, based in London and Istanbul.
In 2022, he founded KL Analytics to share his expertise and passion for financial markets.
